This Haymarket venue is the first Malaysian Nyonya grill house in Sydney! Head Chef, Junda Khoo, said the venue is inspired by the home-style street food dishes that he tasted and learnt to create with his amah in their family kitchen. Word on the street is you can’t go past their grilled tasting platter. Their spicy Laksa, with perfectly cooked egg noodles and epic flavour and thickness, is also winning the hearts and bellies of Sydneysiders.

You guessed it! This restaurant is part of the Ho Jiak group of restaurants and it’s the same amah referenced in the name that inspired the Haymarket venue. Their open kitchen allows for a more involved dining experience as you watch your delicious food being prepared. Did someone say a six-hour braised soy master stock pork belly? Yup. The fish ball soup also holds a special place on Amah by Ho Jiak’s menu.

This Malaysian eatery offers casual in and out dining, perfect for your lunch break or a quick weekend feed in between some retail therapy. With an exciting menu filled with all the Malaysian classics you’d expect, there’s something for everyone. Their beef rendang is bound to warm your heart and your belly! Their wok-fried noodles are also something to write home about.
